Chanel in Pantin seeks an Alternance Analytical Development Chemist (Perfumes & Beauty) starting Sept 2026 — work‑study role in R&D laboratory.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support analytical method development and validation for fragrance and cosmetic matrices under supervision (HPLC, GC, LC-MS workflows).
  • Perform routine and release testing, stability studies and raw material controls in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate laboratory documentation: SOPs, test reports, batch records and stability protocols.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting, data analysis and interpretation using chromatographic and spectrometric outputs; present results to R&D and quality teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (formulation, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, supply chain) to support product development milestones.
  • Ensure adherence to health & safety rules, GLP principles and internal quality systems; participate in laboratory housekeeping and calibration activities.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited engineering school, master’s programme or equivalent in chemistry, analytical chemistry, cosmetic science or chemical engineering (alternance/work‑study pathway).
  • Solid theoretical grounding in analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis.
  • Practical laboratory experience from prior internships or coursework, ideally in cosmetics, fragrances or consumer goods.
  • Rigorous approach to documentation, data integrity and adherence to laboratory quality standards.
  • Good command of laboratory health & safety practices and chemical handling procedures.
