Chanel is hiring an Alterations Specialist in Palo Alto to perform couture-level garment alterations and client fittings.
Role & Responsibilities
- Execute couture-level alterations and repairs on ready-to-wear and bespoke garments, ensuring flawless fit and finish.
- Conduct in-boutique client fittings, take precise measurements and provide expert advice on fit, drape and construction.
- Operate and maintain industrial sewing machines and hand-finishing techniques appropriate for delicate luxury fabrics.
- Interpret garment construction and pattern adjustments to preserve design integrity during alterations.
- Perform quality control on all completed work, ensuring adherence to maison standards before client delivery.
- Coordinate with store management, client advisors and ateliers to prioritise turnaround times and manage client expectations.
- Maintain accurate alteration records and ensure confidentiality of client information and bespoke requests.
Qualifications
- Professional tailoring or alterations qualification, vocational diploma or equivalent technical training preferred.
- Minimum three years' demonstrable experience in garment alterations or tailoring, ideally within luxury fashion or high-end retail.
- Proficiency with industrial sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques for delicate fabrics (silk, cashmere, fine wool, leather).
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern alteration and couture finishing methods.
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management and the ability to manage multiple client requests concurrently.
Skills
Experience
At least 3 years of professional alterations or tailoring experience, with a proven track record in fine garment work; prior experience within a luxury fashion house, couture atelier or high-end retail environment is strongly preferred.
Education
Vocational qualification or diploma in tailoring/garment construction preferred; equivalent on-the-job apprenticeship or recognised tailoring certification accepted.
