Chanel seeks an Alterations Specialist in Palm Beach, FL to deliver couture-level fittings and garment alterations at the Worth Avenue boutique.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform precision alterations and repairs on couture and ready-to-wear garments to the highest luxury standards, including hemming, taking in/out, resizing and complex structural adjustments.
  • Conduct client consultations and in-store fittings, translate client requests into technical solutions and advise on fit and preservation of garment integrity.
  • Execute couture finishing techniques and hand-sewing as required to maintain brand-level quality and presentation.
  • Operate and maintain a range of sewing equipment (industrial machines, overlock/serger, pressing equipment) and ensure a clean, organised alterations workspace.
  • Collaborate closely with sales advisors, store management and external ateliers to manage turnaround times, prioritise orders and ensure flawless client experiences.
  • Manage alteration records, pricing confirmations and quality-control checks prior to garment release to clients.
  • Train and mentor junior seamstresses or temporary staff when required and contribute to continuous improvement of alteration workflows.

Qualifications

  • Vocational diploma or formal training in tailoring, dressmaking or garment technology, or equivalent apprenticeship experience.
  • Minimum three years’ proven experience performing alterations in a luxury fashion or bespoke tailoring environment.
  • Mastery of couture hand-sewing and machine techniques, with demonstrable experience working on delicate and structured fabrics (silk, tweed, lace, embellished textiles).
  • Strong client-facing skills with a professional, discreet manner and the ability to work collaboratively within a high-end retail team.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management skills and commitment to delivering uncompromising finish and fit.
