Chanel Alterations Specialist, Soho, New York — expert tailor for luxury garments. Full-time role, $28–$42/hr.
Role & Responsibilities
- Uphold production standards to deliver the ultimate Chanel experience to the client
- Properly fit each garment with clients and alter a wide range of Chanel pieces
- Organize and maintain client-owned pieces in line with Chanel expectations
- Interact with clients to suggest styling and fitting advice
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of alteration techniques specific to Chanel, including fabrication and styling of luxury garments
- Ensure that sewing machines and other equipment are in proper working order
- Build positive team relationships throughout the boutique to inspire trust and teamwork
- Alter or repair clients' garments and other articles, including hemming, mending, lengthening, and taking in and letting out seams
- Fit garments on clients to determine how the alterations should be done
- Construct garments and other articles according to clients' specifications and preferences
- Label clients' garments and articles and record the alterations required
- Communicate with clients to determine their specifications, needs, and preferences
- Use irons and pressing machines to erase creases on garments and other articles
Qualifications
- Previous alterations experience in a luxury retail environment with a minimum of 5 years of related experience preferred
- Sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques
- Ability to work under time constraints
- Effective communication skills
- Exceptional client service skills
- Detail-oriented mindset
- Minimum High School Diploma
- Ability to lift 15 lbs
- Flexible schedule with ability to work late nights, weekends, and some holidays
- Strong technical background in specialty skills such as leather, knits, double-face, beading, fine tailoring, and buttonholes

Experience
Minimum 5 years of alterations experience in a luxury retail environment is preferred. Demonstrated expertise in working with high-end materials and complex alteration techniques specific to luxury fashion is essential.
Education
Minimum High School Diploma required.

The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 28 to USD 42 per hour.
