Role & Responsibilities

  • Uphold production standards to deliver the ultimate Chanel experience to the client
  • Properly fit each garment with clients and alter a wide range of Chanel pieces
  • Organize and maintain client-owned pieces in line with Chanel expectations
  • Interact with clients to suggest styling and fitting advice
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of alteration techniques specific to Chanel, including fabrication and styling of luxury garments
  • Ensure that sewing machines and other equipment are in proper working order
  • Build positive team relationships throughout the boutique to inspire trust and teamwork
  • Alter or repair clients' garments and other articles, including hemming, mending, lengthening, and taking in and letting out seams
  • Fit garments on clients to determine how the alterations should be done
  • Construct garments and other articles according to clients' specifications and preferences
  • Label clients' garments and articles and record the alterations required
  • Communicate with clients to determine their specifications, needs, and preferences
  • Use irons and pressing machines to erase creases on garments and other articles

Qualifications

  • Previous alterations experience in a luxury retail environment with a minimum of 5 years of related experience preferred
  • Sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques
  • Ability to work under time constraints

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work late nights, weekends, and some holidays
  • Strong technical background in specialty skills such as leather, knits, double-face, beading, fine tailoring, and buttonholes
