Chanel is hiring an Alterations Specialist in Chicago, IL to perform couture-level fittings and precision tailoring in a luxury boutique.
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct client fittings within the boutique, advising on fit, style and alteration options while maintaining Chanel’s luxury service standards.
- Perform precision alterations and repairs on couture and ready-to-wear garments using both hand‑sewing and industrial techniques.
- Execute pattern modifications, garment reshaping and seam finishing to preserve silhouette and fabric integrity, including work on delicate materials (silk, tweed, leather).
- Manage alteration orders from intake to delivery—document measurements, timelines and bespoke requests; liaise with sales advisors and external ateliers as required.
- Perform final quality control and pressing/finishing to ensure garments meet couture presentation standards prior to client collection.
- Maintain tools, equipment and an organized alteration workspace; ensure confidentiality and careful handling of client items.
Qualifications
- Several years (recommended 3+ years) of professional tailoring/alterations experience, ideally within luxury, couture or bridal environments.
- Mastery of hand‑stitching couture techniques and experience with industrial sewing machinery.
- Proven ability to work with fine and specialty fabrics (silk, wool, tweed, leather) while preserving original garment structure.
- Strong client-facing skills with an emphasis on discretion, professionalism and high standards of service.
- Authorized to work in the United States.

Minimum of several years of hands‑on tailoring or alterations experience, with preference for candidates who have worked in luxury retail, couture ateliers or bespoke tailoring environments.
Education
