Chanel is hiring an Alterations Specialist in Beverly Hills to perform couture-level fittings and bespoke garment alterations.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform couture-level alterations, repairs and finishing on high-end garments and accessories to meet maison standards.
- Conduct precise client fittings, record measurements and advise clients on fit, drape and potential modifications.
- Operate and maintain industrial sewing machines, overlockers and hand-sewing tools; ensure equipment is calibrated and safe.
- Interpret garment construction and patterns to execute complex adjustments on silk, cashmere, leather and embellished fabrics.
- Manage alterations workflow within the boutique: log jobs, estimate timelines, coordinate with store client advisors and ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold exceptional service standards during all client interactions and in-studio work.
- Quality-check finished work for fit, durability and couture finishing; perform final pressing/steaming and presentation.
Qualifications
- Proven technical expertise in tailoring and couture alterations, with a portfolio or examples of previous work.
- Demonstrable experience working with delicate and high-value fabrics (silk, cashmere, embellished fabrics, leather).
- Exceptional hand-sewing skills and familiarity with industrial sewing machines and overlockers.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to liaise confidently with high-net-worth clients and store teams.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Skills
Experience
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in tailoring or alterations, preferably within a couture atelier or luxury retail environment; prior experience with bespoke fittings and complex garment modifications is strongly preferred.
Education
Vocational diploma or certificate in tailoring, dressmaking or fashion construction; equivalent formal apprenticeship or on-the-job tailoring training accepted.
