Role & Responsibilities
- Perform high‑quality alterations, repairs and finishings on luxury ready‑to‑wear and couture garments to Chanel standards.
- Conduct precise client measurements and fittings in‑store, advising on fit, fabric behavior and alteration options.
- Execute hand‑sewing and machine techniques including seam adjustments, hems, linings, and delicate trims while preserving garment integrity.
- Manage alteration orders from intake through delivery: document requests, estimate timescales, track progress and ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate with Client Advisors and store management to prioritize work, communicate fit outcomes and uphold exceptional client service.
- Maintain atelier equipment and supplies, ensure cleanliness and organization of the workbench, and safeguard all client garments.
- Perform final quality control checks to verify finish, fit and conformance with brand specifications.
- Respect client confidentiality and provide discreet, professional service consistent with luxury retail protocols.
Qualifications
- Formal training in tailoring, garment construction or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in tailoring.
- Proven ability in hand‑sewing couture techniques and precision machine work relevant to high‑end women's garments.
- Strong knowledge of fabric types, linings, knitwear behavior and how different materials respond to alteration techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a client‑facing manner and the ability to advise clients and sales staff professionally.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, reliability and the capacity to maintain confidentiality with high‑profile clientele.
Skills
Experience
Minimum three years of professional tailoring or alterations experience, preferably within a luxury fashion house, couture atelier or high‑end retail environment. Experience with women's ready‑to‑wear and delicate fabrics is strongly preferred.
Education
Vocational diploma or certificate in tailoring/garment construction, or equivalent professional apprenticeship.
