Role & Responsibilities
- Assist senior tailors and seamstresses in the in-house atelier with fittings, alterations and finishing under supervision.
- Perform basic alteration tasks: hemming, taking in/out seams, pressing, hand-finishing and small repairs to luxury garments.
- Prepare garments for client appointments and runway/sample presentations, ensuring impeccable presentation and condition.
- Measure clients and garments accurately; record alteration requests and update work orders with precise notes.
- Maintain sewing equipment, tools and the atelier workspace to the maison's standards of cleanliness and preservation.
- Support quality control checks and escalate complex or delicate repairs to senior atelier staff.
- Respect client confidentiality and handle haute couture and high-value pieces with care and discretion.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a vocational course in tailoring, fashion technology, garment construction or equivalent.
- Basic proficiency with hand sewing and industrial sewing machines; familiarity with garment construction and finishes.
- Strong manual dexterity, excellent attention to detail and a rigorous sense of quality.
- Professional demeanour, reliability and the ability to work collaboratively within a small atelier team.
- Flexibility to attend client fittings and occasional extended hours when required.
Skills
Experience
Entry-level internship; prior practical experience through coursework, student projects, vocational placements or short internships in tailoring or garment construction is advantageous but not mandatory.
Education
Vocational training or current enrollment in fashion design, tailoring, garment technology or a related programme; recent graduates will also be considered.
