Chanel Alterationist, Sydney NSW – Execute precision garment alterations in luxury ready-to-wear at our Market Street boutique.
Role & Responsibilities
- Complete requested garment alterations within specified timelines and to the highest standards of quality
- Perform pinning, pressing, assembly, and finishing of garments; check fittings on mannequins prior to client sessions
- Study and understand seasonal collections to recognize silhouettes, styling gestures, and appropriate alteration methods
- Monitor the alteration schedule according to plan and ensure timely delivery
- Communicate effectively with the team regarding any delays or issues to maintain optimal client experience
- Assess the impact of alterations on ready-to-wear and accessory products to ensure design integrity
- Liaise with clients to explain alteration outcomes, limitations, and possibilities with transparency and professionalism
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to sew and alter garments with precision and accuracy
- Thorough knowledge of fabrics, including understanding of draping, fabrication, and pressing techniques
- Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and team members
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Keen eye for detail and quality assurance
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Skills
Experience
Candidates should bring proven experience in garment alteration or tailoring, with demonstrated proficiency in handling luxury fabrics and executing precision alterations. Experience working in a retail or boutique environment, particularly within the fashion or luxury goods sector, is advantageous.
Education
No formal qualification is required; however, relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in tailoring, garment construction, or fashion is beneficial.
