Role & Responsibilities
- Execute precise alterations and repairs on haute couture and ready-to-wear garments to the maison’s exacting standards.
- Conduct fittings with clients and sales teams, interpreting fit requirements and recommending technical solutions.
- Modify patterns and make on-the-spot adjustments to ensure optimal silhouette, drape and finishing.
- Collaborate closely with the atelier, ateliers' cutters and sales associates to manage work orders and scheduling.
- Apply advanced hand-sewing, basting and finishing techniques appropriate to delicate fabrics and embellishments.
- Perform quality-control checks on completed garments and ensure consistent adherence to brand specifications.
- Maintain and care for sewing equipment, tools and an inventory of threads, interfacings and notions appropriate for luxury materials.
- Document alterations and keep accurate records of client fittings, measurements and recurring preferences.
Qualifications
- Proven technical mastery of tailoring and couture alteration techniques.
- Demonstrable experience working with fine fabrics and complex constructions (silk, wool, cashmere, lace, beading).
- Strong hand-sewing skills and proficiency on industrial and domestic sewing machines.
- Exceptional attention to detail, precision and consistency in finish and fit.
- Ability to manage multiple fittings and tight turnaround times while maintaining quality.
Skills
Experience
Several years of professional experience in garment alteration, bespoke tailoring or an atelier environment, preferably within the luxury fashion or couture sector.
Education
Vocational diploma or certificate in tailoring/garment construction, or equivalent formal apprenticeship or professional training.
