Chanel seeks an Alteration Specialist in Singapore to educate retail teams on garment fitting, fabric knowledge, and basic pinning techniques.
Role & Responsibilities
- Educate retail teams on the fundamentals of garment fit, proportion, balance, ease, and movement
- Build awareness among retail personnel regarding body morphology and posture to enhance fitting assessment accuracy and sensitivity
- Train retail teams on proper pinning techniques, including correct pin placement, garment handling, and client safety protocols
- Develop and communicate practical technical knowledge of fabrics and materials, including behaviour, drape, stretch, weight, structure, and alteration response
- Advise retail teams on how garment construction and fabric choice influence alteration possibilities and limitations
- Provide clear guidance on when basic pinning is appropriate versus when escalation to Alterations specialists or Les Ateliers is necessary
- Establish a shared fitting vocabulary and streamlined handover processes between Retail, Alterations, and Les Ateliers
- Deliver ongoing coaching, fitting clinics, visual guides, and in-the-moment support to embed technical knowledge into daily practice
Qualifications
- Demonstrable expertise in garment construction, tailoring, or alterations
- Comprehensive understanding of fabric behaviour, materials, and their response to alteration
- Proven experience in retail fitting environments or atelier settings
- Strong foundational knowledge of body morphology and posture analysis as it relates to fit
Skills
Experience
Professional experience in tailoring, alterations, fitting consultancy, or similar atelier-related roles within a luxury fashion environment is essential. Demonstrated ability to translate technical expertise into clear, practical guidance for non-specialist audiences is required.
Education
No specific formal educational credential is mandated; however, formal training in fashion design, tailoring, pattern-making, or garment construction is highly advantageous.

The successful candidate will be located in Singapore, Central, Singapore.
