Role & Responsibilities
- Analyze Studio sketches and design intentions to anticipate technical constraints specific to denim and contract textile materials
- Develop and maintain detailed technical specifications in PLM, integrating construction, assembly, washing, treatment, finishing, and placement details
- Lead prototype refinement through fittings, adjustments, retouching, and validation of volumes, ensuring fit integrity and product balance
- Ensure alignment between stylistic vision and technical feasibility while maintaining Céline's quality standards
- Propose innovations and solutions specific to denim development: constructions, bleaching processes, treatments, finishes, and authentic detailing
- Serve as primary interface between development, textile, supply, modeling, Studio, and factory teams throughout collection development
- Collaborate closely with workshops, specialized denim manufacturers, and suppliers primarily based in Italy and Japan
- Monitor prototype, counter-sample, and production-ready sample launches at factories
- Lead washing and treatment development in coordination with industrial partners, balancing stylistic intent, product quality, and manufacturing constraints
- Verify product compliance: fit, volume, hand-feel, appearance, bleach patterns, finishes, colorways, and assembly details
- Maintain consistent dialogue with factories to identify optimal technical, aesthetic, and economic solutions
- Ensure adherence to collection and production timelines
- Anticipate technical or industrial bottlenecks and propose appropriate solutions
- Actively participate in fittings and validation meetings with Studio and internal teams
- Regularly prepare and update collection development tools: collection overview, sketch recaps, boards, material specifications, material cards, and prototype tracking
- Maintain reliable, traceable, and consistent information across tracking systems (PLM, nomenclatures, development spreadsheets)
- Monitor development expenditures to support budget management
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of product development experience with strong technical denim expertise
- In-depth knowledge of denim constructions, finishes, and washing processes
- Confirmed experience in a premium or luxury environment
- Mastery of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems
- Fluent English
- Meticulous attention to quality, fit, and detail
- Strong understanding of fashion culture combined with technical acumen
