Cartier Watchmaking Apprentice - 3-year CFC programme in Couvet, Switzerland. Learn horological manufacturing from August 2027.
Role & Responsibilities
- Master the assembly of diverse watch movements including mechanical, automatic, quartz, and chronograph mechanisms
- Develop foundational micromechanical skills: filing, precision turning on lathe equipment, metrology, milling, drilling, and thermal treatments including tempering and annealing
- Acquire expertise in finishing operations: dial and hand placement, case backing, bracelet adjustment, and watch case assembly
- Execute movement-specific operations including pivoting, regulation, and finishing procedures
- Build competency in pendulum mechanisms and related horological theory
- Participate in structured practical placements within Cartier workshops and collaborating partner organizations
Qualifications
- Excellent command of secondary school fundamentals and demonstrated learning capacity
- Advanced mathematical aptitude with strong logical and technical reasoning skills
- Genuine interest in horological products and precision mechanisms
- Manual dexterity, autonomous working capability, and methodical attention to detail
- Sustained concentration, patience, and logical problem-solving approach
- Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal communication skills
Skills
Experience
This programme is designed for school leavers or individuals transitioning into the watchmaking profession. Prior formal horological experience is not required; however, demonstrable interest in precision engineering, mechanical systems, or artisanal craftsmanship is advantageous.
Education
Completion of compulsory secondary education (or equivalent) required. Strong performance in mathematics and technical subjects is essential.

This position is based in Couvet, Neuchâtel, Switzerland, within easy reach of La Chaux-de-Fonds.
