Cartier in La Chaux‑de‑Fonds seeks a Methods Technician to industrialize and optimise precision watchmaking processes.
Role & Responsibilities
- Define, document and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions and standard operating procedures for precision watch components.
- Lead industrialization activities for new products and product revisions, including process qualification, pilot runs and transfer to series production.
- Conduct time-and-motion studies, capacity analyses and process balancing to optimise takt time and throughput.
- Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, 5S), corrective actions and root-cause analyses in collaboration with production and quality teams.
- Specify and qualify tooling, fixtures and gauging; coordinate trials with suppliers and internal maintenance teams.
- Perform process risk assessments (FMEA) and ensure compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Train and support production operators on new methods, work instructions and best practices.
- Collaborate with R&D, quality, planning and supply‑chain to resolve production constraints and accelerate ramp-up.
Qualifications
- Technical diploma in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, watchmaking technician qualification (CFC/BTS) or equivalent vocational training.
- Demonstrable experience in industrialisation, process engineering or manufacturing methods within precision mechanics or watchmaking.
- Practical knowledge of process documentation, work instruction writing and process validation methodologies.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement tools (5S, Kaizen), FMEA and root-cause analysis techniques.
- Strong understanding of metrology and basic inspection methods relevant to high‑precision components.

Experience
Mid-level professional with typically 3+ years of hands‑on experience in industrialisation, process engineering or manufacturing methods within precision engineering or watchmaking environments; proven track record of executing process improvements and supporting production ramp-ups.
Education
Technical or vocational qualification in mechanical or industrial engineering, watchmaking technician diploma (CFC/BTS) or equivalent.
