Cartier Paris seeks an experienced Gemstone Cutter (Lapidaire) for full-time role in haute joaillerie manufacturing.
Role & Responsibilities
- Maintain and prepare cutting tools and equipment
- Perform sawing and roughing operations on all stone types
- Shape and refine stones using vertical grinding wheels and specialized hand tools
- Execute precision adjustments and fine-tuning using hand-held equipment
- Work with magnifying glasses and binocular headsets to achieve exacting standards
- Select appropriate raw materials based on dimensional, qualitative, and color specifications
- Ensure consistent adherence to technical specifications and quality standards
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in wheel-based stone cutting and hand-piece techniques
- Strong understanding of three-dimensional geometry and volume
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately
- Proficiency in adapting methods to the properties of different stone materials
- Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Recognised for rigour, attention to detail, and genuine passion for the craft
Skills
Experience
First-hand experience in wheel-based cutting and hand-piece stone crafting techniques; proven capability in haute joaillerie manufacturing or similar specialized gemstone work.
Education
Technical training or formal apprenticeship in gemstone cutting, lapidary arts, or related jewellery manufacturing disciplines preferred.
