Cartier — Paris: Diamond Quality Controller (Fine Jewellery, Alternance). Apprenticeship in diamond grading and quality assurance within Cartier's Paris ateliers.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Inspect and grade diamonds for colour, clarity, cut and carat weight against Cartier’s internal quality standards.
  • Perform visual and instrumental examinations using loupe, microscope and basic gemmological testing equipment.
  • Record inspection findings, complete quality-control documentation and escalate non-conforming items to senior gemologists.
  • Support production and repair teams by verifying stones prior to setting and during finishing processes.
  • Participate in continuous-improvement initiatives to refine inspection protocols and reduce rejection rates.

Qualifications

  • Enrolment in an alternance/apprenticeship programme or vocational course in gemmology, jewellery making or materials science.
  • Strong visual acuity, colour vision and manual dexterity; meticulous attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of diamond characteristics and grading terminology (colour, clarity, cut, carat).
  • Ability to follow technical protocols and maintain accurate, auditable paperwork.
  • Professional attitude, punctuality and ability to work collaboratively within atelier and production teams.
