Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the atelier team, including patternmakers, seamstresses, and technical staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development to ensure high performance and skill advancement
- Oversee the creation and refinement of patterns for all collections, ensuring accuracy, fit, and strict adherence to design specifications from initial concept through final approval
- Coordinate the development and production of garment samples, working closely with the design team to ensure samples reflect intended design and fit, reviewing and approving samples and making necessary adjustments
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control standards for both patterns and finished garments, ensuring compliance with the brand's quality criteria and production requirements
- Develop and implement efficient processes and workflows for patternmaking and sample development, optimizing resource allocation and managing day-to-day operations to maximize productivity
- Work closely with designers, fabric developers, and production teams to facilitate smooth communication and ensure design intent is accurately translated into final products, addressing fit, construction, and production feasibility issues
- Manage the atelier and patternmaking department budget, oversee inventory of materials and supplies, and ensure resources are used efficiently and cost-effectively
- Provide technical guidance on garment construction, fabric properties, and patternmaking techniques, staying informed about industry trends and advancements to incorporate best practices
- Maintain development calendars and track milestones to ensure fittings, sample reviews, and final approvals are completed on schedule
- Lead and participate in fit sessions, documenting revisions and ensuring all pattern, construction, and measurement updates are accurately communicated and executed
Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent relevant experience
- 7–10 years of experience in product development, patternmaking, or sample production
- Demonstrated expertise in pattern development and garment construction
- Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams
- Advanced organizational and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education
College degree in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, Technical Design, or related discipline preferred; equivalent professional experience in atelier management or pattern development accepted.
