Role & Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and operate shared integration platform services for domain-aligned, platform and programme teams delivering integrations across Burberry’s technology estate.
• Develop and maintain reusable integration components, connector libraries and pattern implementations to accelerate adoption, reduce duplication and ensure consistency across the portfolio.
• Manage the integration platform’s day-to-day operational health, including performance monitoring, incident response, capacity management and platform upgrades, ensuring availability and reliability amid concurrent portfolio change.
• Translate integration architecture standards, design patterns and guardrails set by the Senior Solution Architect, Integration, into engineered platform capabilities and reusable assets, maintaining a clear boundary between architectural direction and engineering execution.
• Enable domain-aligned Product and Programme teams to use the integration platform for their integrations through hands-on enablement, technical guidance and pattern-compliance support, without becoming a delivery bottleneck.
• Collaborate with Agentic AI Engineers to support agent-to-system connectivity, including standards and patterns such as MCP and direct tool access, enabling agents to consume enterprise systems through the governed integration layer.
• Partner with Enterprise Security Architects to embed security by design into the integration platform, including API security, data-in-transit protection, access control and compliance with enterprise security standards.
• Document integration platform architecture, reusable components, pattern libraries, operational runbooks and engineering standards to support knowledge retention and capability transfer.
• Evaluate integration tooling, frameworks and patterns in the market and recommend platform evolution where justified by delivery-team needs or technology maturity.

Qualifications

• Experience in integration, middleware or platform engineering, including hands-on experience building, operating and maintaining enterprise integration platforms in complex, multi-system environments.
• Proficiency with enterprise iPaaS and integration tools, with practical experience in one or more of SAP BTP / Integration Suite, MuleSoft, Boomi, Informatica or an equivalent; hands-on experience with API management platforms such as Apigee, Azure API Management or Kong.
• Strong event-driven and messaging experience, including Apache Kafka, Azure Service Bus or an equivalent, and practical understanding of event-driven architecture patterns, pub/sub, CQRS and event sourcing.
• Solid understanding of enterprise integration patterns, including EAI, ESB, API-led connectivity, canonical data models, and orchestration versus choreography, with the ability to turn architectural standards into engineered platform capabilities and reusable components.
• Practical experience with API security, OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect, mutual TLS, data-in-transit protection and access control for integration platforms, and the ability to embed security into platform services by design.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for integration deployment, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep or equivalent), and integration monitoring and observability tools.
• Collaborative and effective across multiple teams in a cross-functional operating model where the integration platform serves as shared infrastructure; proven ability to enable other teams without centralising delivery.
• Comfort working in a foundational environment where integration engineering practices, reusable assets and platform services must be established from scratch, balancing delivery pace with sustainable, well-documented engineering foundations.
• Detail-oriented, with a commitment to documentation, reusable asset development, knowledge sharing and engineering consistency.
