Burberry seeks a Retail Planning Systems Consultant in London to deliver planning and merchandising solutions on the Board platform within an agile scrum team.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Configure and develop solutions supporting planning and merchandising processes using the Board platform and related tooling
  • Operate within a scrum team delivering backlog items and supporting live services across forecasting, allocation, replenishment, and open-to-buy workflows
  • Engage in sprint ceremonies and provide technical feasibility assessments, dependency analysis, and delivery recommendations
  • Deliver both change initiatives (enhancements, improvements) and run activities (defect resolution, stability) within the team backlog
  • Translate business requirements from Business Analysts into robust configurations, calculations, and workflows
  • Execute backlog priorities under the direction of the Senior Product & Delivery Manager
  • Contribute technical engineering capacity to Planning & Merchandising-related programmes beyond standard product team activities
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects to ensure solutions align to enterprise architecture standards and integration patterns
  • Support integrations between domain platforms and enterprise systems including SAP, PLM, and data platforms
  • Identify, escalate, and mitigate platform risks including technical debt, performance degradation, and upgrade dependencies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues to minimize disruption to business-critical operations
  • Provide technical input during backlog refinement and estimation processes
  • Support testing activities including unit, integration, and business validation
  • Maintain documentation of platform configurations, models, and processes for operational continuity
  • Oversee and direct third-party engineering resources, ensuring delivery quality and adherence to engineering standards
  • Provide technical challenge and assurance on partner outputs and solution approaches
  • Participate in the engineering community of practice, sharing knowledge and aligning to enterprise-wide standards

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated configuration or engineering capacity in enterprise planning and merchandising systems
  • Strong understanding of planning and merchandising processes including allocation, replenishment, forecasting, and open-to-buy
  • Experience working within Agile or scrum-based delivery teams
  • Familiarity with integrated enterprise environments such as SAP, PLM, and data platforms
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions
  • Strong problem-solving capability, particularly in diagnosing and resolving live platform issues
