Role & Responsibilities

  • Define and implement seasonal range plans including assortment, pricing, country of origin, and competitor positioning in collaboration with global and local stakeholders across Design, Product Development, Planning, Visual Merchandising, and Marketing
  • Oversee category performance by analyzing weekly and monthly sales, sell-through, and stock levels; recommend and execute in-season trading actions including reorders and markdowns
  • Manage sample budgets and ordering processes to support wholesale, retail, and e-commerce launches across all channels
  • Conduct regular market research analyzing competitor activity, customer trends, and local fashion movements; report strategic insights to global headquarters
  • Collaborate on capsule and promotional buying, open-to-buy planning, and inventory strategies ensuring alignment with Finance budgets and margin targets
  • Partner with Visual Merchandising and Retail teams to support product launches, store floor sets, and clienteling training initiatives
  • Present buy proposals and performance insights to regional and global teams; support investor relations commentary as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
  • 8+ years of fashion merchandising experience with preference for luxury retail background
  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English proficiency (both written and spoken)
  • Strong analytical aptitude with advanced Excel and retail mathematics capabilities
  • Commercial acumen and margin-focused decision-making grounded in data analysis
  • Strategic thinking with an innovative and collaborative approach to problem-solving
