Burberry is hiring a Merchandising Assistant in New York — support inventory optimization, reporting and cross‑functional merchandising initiatives.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Compile, produce and maintain standard and ad hoc merchandise and inventory reports on a daily, weekly and monthly cadence.
  • Evaluate business performance at store, digital and style level to identify opportunities and drive productivity and sales-to-stock balance.
  • Analyze stock levels, selling reports and size/style sell-through across Retail and Digital channels to optimize inventory distribution.
  • Track seasonal deliveries and partner with Customer Operations to ensure on-time receipt and seasonal inventory optimization.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Merchandising, Planning and Operations to implement product and inventory strategies end-to-end.
  • Design and support transfer and consolidation strategies to improve inventory flow and availability.
  • Review distribution center availability and report re-order and stock pick-up opportunities.
  • Create, analyze and communicate seasonal and monthly floor set launches and support seasonal buying campaigns with ad hoc sizing/reporting.
  • Communicate business trends and merchandising priorities to field teams and stores; gather and feed back product and collection insights.
  • Support store teams through product education, communication of deliveries and trend briefings to motivate sales performance.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of allocation, buying or merchandising experience (temporary positions and internships accepted).
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree (2–4 year college) required.
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of retail math and inventory metrics.
  • Strong analytical ability with advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to partner with cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and operate in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with SAP is a plus.
