Burberry’s Merchandise Planner supports profitable growth across the Americas Outlet channel, managing allocation, forecasting, inventory, and performance analysis for stores in the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico. The role partners with planning, merchandising, operations, finance, visual merchandising, and field teams; expected base salary is $85,000–$103,000 per year.
Role & Responsibilities
- Analyze and report performance by channel, division, store, style, and size to provide a consistent view of regional results and identify productivity opportunities.
- Use the Board A&R system to manage replenishment for Made for Outlet products and create manual inventory pushes when required.
- Optimize store-level allocations based on customer profiles and inventory strategies, including category mix and assortment ageing.
- Identify sales opportunities and risks on key items through performance analysis and forecasting; recommend actions such as top-ups, consolidations, markdowns, and alternative liquidation within financial goals.
- Partner with the Planning Manager on the monthly Outlet Open-to-Buy (OTB) process, including forecasts for sales, margin, discount, and inventory.
- Develop monthly forecasts for Made for Outlet products, contribute to forecasts for centrally managed replenishment items, and partner with Merchandising on quarterly buys.
- Develop seasonal inventory liquidation strategies, including markdowns and promotions.
- Maintain the special-order assortment as needed and recommend product additions and price changes that support financial goals.
- Partner with Merchandising, Operations, Visual Merchandising, Regional Finance, and Central Planning to align Made for Outlet strategy, product priorities, deliveries, and capacity constraints affecting vendors and stores.
- Communicate current business trends and opportunities to field teams and stores to help drive future performance proactively and fulfill special orders and requests.
- Manage the NSS process, including ensuring legal compliance.
Qualifications
- Three to four years of experience in allocation and planning, including Open-to-Buy management and line-level forecasting.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong knowledge of retail mathematics and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to build and apply complex formulas.
- Allocation system and SAP experience preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Adaptable, proactive, commercially curious, and able to navigate ambiguity.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective cross-functional relationships and contribute to shared strategies.
