Burberry Manager, Statutory Accounting

Role & Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end preparation and review of statutory accounts for one or more legal entities in accordance with applicable local GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and manage statutory year‑end close, working papers and reconciliations to ensure timely, audit‑ready financials.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors during statutory audits and tax compliance engagements, driving queries to resolution and delivering required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with local statutory filing deadlines and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of local accounting and disclosure regulations.
• Partner with group accounting, consolidation and tax teams to align local reporting with group policies and IFRS where applicable; prepare GAAP reconciliations and variance analyses.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls over statutory reporting and contribute to SOX/compliance initiatives where relevant.
• Supervise, coach and develop junior accounting staff; allocate workload and ensure quality control of deliverables.
• Identify process inefficiencies and lead continuous‑improvement initiatives, including system optimisation and automation of manual controls and reconciliations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent; professional qualification (CPA, CA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent) strongly preferred.
• Deep technical knowledge of local GAAP and IFRS and demonstrable experience managing statutory reporting and filings.
• Proven ability to interact effectively with external auditors and tax authorities.
• Track record of leading small teams and delivering month‑end / year‑end close responsibilities within tight deadlines.
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with high attention to detail and a commitment to process integrity.

Skills

Experience

Typically 5+ years of progressive experience in statutory accounting and external reporting within a multinational environment, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role; experience in luxury goods, retail or consumer goods is advantageous.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; professional accounting qualification (CPA/CA/ACCA/CIMA) preferred.
