Burberry is hiring a Department Manager in Serris, France (La Vallée Outlet) to lead a department, drive sales and deliver the Burberry Experience.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead a high‑performing, customer‑facing department delivering the Burberry Experience; coach, mentor and provide regular feedback to frontline team members.
- Set and drive department KPIs (conversion, sales, UPT, AUR, customer profile capture) to maximise productivity and profitability.
- Plan workforce schedules to align staffing with peak trading hours and customer demand while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Recruit, onboard and develop Specialists for the product area, creating monthly development plans and conducting annual performance reviews.
- Act as a departmental product specialist and brand ambassador, ensuring exceptional product knowledge and delivering considered client advice.
- Execute merchandising and housekeeping standards, maintain visual presentation to Burberry guidelines and cascade marketing/product updates to the team.
- Embed digital selling and clienteling tools into the customer journey, leveraging platforms such as Burberry World, Evernote and internal chat to support sales and communications.
- Collaborate with merchants and cross‑functional stakeholders to influence assortment, stock availability and promotional activity within the outlet context.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership skills with experience coaching and developing retail teams to achieve commercial and service objectives.
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrable success against retail KPIs and an ability to balance customer service, people development and profitability.
- Deep interest in luxury fashion and merchandising, with the capability to act as a product specialist for the department’s categories.
- Confident communicator who operates calmly in a fast‑paced outlet or retail environment and who can cascade brand messages with authenticity.
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented and proactive in resolving operational and people‑related challenges.
Skills
Experience
Several years of progressive retail experience with a minimum of demonstrated supervisory or managerial responsibility in a luxury, premium or outlet retail environment; proven track record of delivering sales targets and developing talent.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required; tertiary qualification in business, retail management or fashion is preferred — equivalent demonstrable experience in luxury retail will be accepted.
Workplace
The successful candidate will be located in Serris, Île-de-France, France, with easy access to Paris.
