About Bvlgari
Founded in Rome in 1884, Bvlgari is one of the world’s most distinctive luxury houses, celebrated for its bold Italian creativity, exceptional craftsmanship, and mastery of jewellery, watches, accessories, fragrances, and hospitality. As an employer, Bvlgari offers a refined, international environment where heritage and innovation meet, inviting talent to contribute to a culture of excellence, entrepreneurial spirit, and client-centric elegance. The Maison values diverse expertise, from artisanal savoir-faire to retail leadership and corporate functions, and encourages professional growth within the wider LVMH ecosystem. Working at Bvlgari means joining a Roman-born brand with a global vision and an enduring passion for beauty.
Bvlgari seeks a Polishing Expert for its Neuchâtel watch manufacture, serving as the technical reference for polishing and industrialising finishing processes for bracelet components. The role combines hands-on production, quality control, method development, integration of automatic polishing equipment and technical support to production teams. This is a full-time, permanent, on-site position.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform preparation, polishing, brightening and associated finishing operations on precious- and non-precious-metal bracelet components, in line with production schedules and under the Production Manager’s supervision.
- Ensure production quality through required dimensional and aesthetic self-inspections and compliance with defined standards.
- Carry out reconditioning and rework on personal production and, when necessary, on colleagues’ pieces or components from other workshops.
- Use and maintain production equipment correctly, and report anomalies that could affect safety, quality or process continuity.
- Define the most suitable finishing method and control points based on aesthetic and dimensional requirements.
- Participate in trials, prototypes, pre-series and production launches to develop methods, identify risks and ensure their reliable application in series production.
- Diagnose finishing defects, analyse their causes and propose lasting solutions in collaboration with Production, Quality and Industrialisation.
- Contribute to documenting and updating process routings, work instructions, setup sheets and visual standards.
- Specify trade requirements for fixtures, tooling, protective equipment and other resources needed to perform polishing operations effectively.
- Collaborate with the Industrialisation team by providing shop-floor constraints and recommendations for the design and manufacture of production resources.
- Participate in trials and setup of new resources, then validate their suitability in terms of quality, ergonomics and efficiency.
- Act as the technical point of reference for the setup of new automatic polishing machines, coordinating with Industrialisation, Maintenance and suppliers on trials, adjustments, result validation and process control.
- Integrate automatic polishing equipment into the polishing workflow by defining relevant operations, operating standards, required inspections and ramp-up conditions.
- Contribute to equipment setup and optimisation and to the selection of brushes, abrasives, polishing pastes and consumables.
- Provide daily technical support to polishers, particularly for complex components, recurring defects and reconditioning operations.
- Share techniques, settings, quality criteria and trade best practices, and support colleagues’ skills development without managerial responsibility.
- Identify and propose improvements to reduce rejects, rework, variability, consumption and production times while maintaining the required aesthetic standards.
- Collaborate with Development, Industrialisation, Quality, Production and Maintenance teams on projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Polisher training, a CFC qualification as a watch-case finisher, or an equivalent technical qualification.
- At least 10 years of confirmed polishing experience in watch cases and components, ideally involving bracelet or watch-case components.
- Proficiency in preparation, polishing and brightening of complex components made from precious and non-precious metals.
- Ability to read technical drawings, interpret tolerances and assess how finishing operations affect component geometry and appearance.
- Ability to define polishing methods, develop machine settings and accurately diagnose defects.
- Knowledge of automatic polishing machines, particularly Recomatic or Crevoisier, and experience setting them up or integrating them into production are strong assets.
- Methodical and structured approach to problem-solving.
- Autonomous, rigorous and meticulous, with an interest in remaining closely involved in daily production while serving as a technical reference.
- Strong teaching, listening and teamwork skills, with the ability to share expertise and collaborate effectively with varied stakeholders.
