The Interior Design Associate Manager supports the design team and manages Bvlgari store projects across Japan, from planning and construction through openings, renovations, inspections, and ongoing maintenance. The role covers landlord and stakeholder coordination, schedules, budgets, consultant and contractor management, and sustainability support. Permanent, full-time; hybrid working.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the interior design team in understanding store design concepts and company strategy, providing cross-functional support.
  • Manage store projects across Japan from planning through construction, including new openings and renovations, as well as post-opening support.
  • Negotiate with landlords on legal, structural, and facilities conditions to secure the desired design and environment in line with business strategy.
  • Create master schedules and manage milestones across project kick-off and design, bidding, approvals, drawings, procurement and production, construction, preparation and opening, and post-opening inspections.
  • Lead projects to completion within approved budgets; monitor project budgets, report cost trends to headquarters, and keep headquarters updated.
  • Coordinate with headquarters and internal departments to realize and adjust design intentions from Rome, confirm store operations and product allocation, and prepare opening schedules with the Retail department.
  • Brief local architects, cost management consultants, and sustainability consultants on headquarters’ design intentions and ensure they understand them.
  • Coordinate with general contractors and production companies, including millworkers and material suppliers, to foster creative project collaboration.
  • Coordinate value engineering proposals with local consultants and general contractors in line with budgets.
  • Prepare contracts and place orders as required; review shop drawings and material and finish samples.
  • Conduct on-site construction checks, pre-shipment factory inspections, completion inspections, and inspections one year after completion.
  • Maintain store environments in keeping with Bvlgari standards through prompt maintenance; visit stores periodically and ensure maintenance requests are addressed promptly.
  • Collaborate with general contractors and millworkers to improve manufacturing and construction quality, and share progress with team members to improve store environments.
  • Prepare monthly reports, analyze maintenance needs, propose improvements, and support the Senior Manager with the following year's budget planning and guideline development.
  • Understand the company's sustainability initiatives and support related tasks.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in store planning in the global luxury industry, or as an architect or contractor.
  • Working knowledge of building systems, HVAC, and electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
  • Resourceful and driven, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A collaborative, can-do attitude and adaptability in a fast-changing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, project management, or a similar field.
  • Excellent Japanese communication skills and English proficiency.
