Breuninger is transforming merchandise management by moving its Microsoft Dynamics AX-based on-premise solution to a consolidated SAP S/4HANA Cloud ERP and redesigning value-creating processes to harness AI for automation, cost optimization, and revenue and margin growth. The Senior Program Lead owns both dimensions of the transformation, including product and solution architecture, implementation, interdisciplinary teams, and the development of a modern IT organization. This is a full-time role; hybrid work is possible.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the technology-side redesign of merchandise management processes in collaboration with business functions.
  • Own implementation of IT solutions in accordance with enterprise architecture principles, including a clean core approach: fit-to-standard in the ERP core, with differentiation through custom-developed or third-party products.
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams and coordinate internal and external partners.
  • Guide current teams through the transformation and contribute substantially to building a modern, effective IT organization for the long-term development and operation of the new product and solution architecture.
  • Take responsibility for both the technical and business transformation dimensions and make product and solution architecture decisions for the merchandise management domain in alignment with enterprise architecture.

Qualifications

  • Have held program or transformation responsibility in retail, including demonstrable responsibility for at least one ERP or merchandise management transformation through and beyond go-live, shaping and embedding business, technological and organizational change.
  • Have comprehensive understanding of merchandise management across the fashion and lifestyle retail value chain: assortment and quantity planning, including Open-to-Buy; purchasing and supplier management; product master data with variant and season logic; allocation and replenishment; pricing and markdown management; returns; and cross-channel availability, including marketplaces.
  • Have a sound understanding of solution architectures, integration patterns and cloud ERP sufficient to make and own architecture decisions.
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making with incomplete information, experience in lateral leadership, and confident communication up to board level.
  • Have practical experience with, or demonstrable engagement in, AI and Agentic AI in core operational processes, and be willing to use AI routinely in their own work.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Cloud or other large-scale standard ERP systems and fit-to-standard approaches is desirable.
  • Product management experience, particularly in roadmapping, prioritization and value-based management, and disciplinary leadership experience are an advantage.
  • Have business-fluent German and English.
