Bottega Veneta seeks a Stock Controller in London (Sloane St) to manage inventory, stockroom operations and deliveries for its flagship boutique.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Supervise the physical organisation and security of the stockroom, ensuring clear, efficient storage and adherence to shrinkage controls.
  • Receive and check weekly deliveries against invoices; log discrepancies and inform inventory control and the Store Manager.
  • Manage inventory processes including replenishment, stock transfers (CICIs), consignments, Return to Vendor (RTV) procedures and seasonal markdown preparations.
  • Carry out electronic maintenance of stock allocations, enter order/transfer/adjustment data and perform regular full and departmental 'mini' stock takes.
  • Investigate and report discrepancies discovered during stock takes and implement system adjustments in liaison with inventory control.
  • Identify and quarantine faulty stock; co-ordinate repairs and maintain paper trails with suppliers in accordance with company policy.
  • Support sales and visual merchandising teams by preparing and making stock available for client requests, displays and press requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with head office retail and inventory teams and read/act upon weekly merchandising reports.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in stock control, inventory management or a similar retail operational role, ideally within luxury fashion.
  • Strong numeracy and advanced IT literacy, including confident use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with stock systems; previous exposure to JDA and/or RetailPro is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise across store teams, suppliers and head office.
  • Organisational aptitude with demonstrated planning, prioritisation and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Team‑oriented attitude and a security-conscious approach to store operations.
  • Language skills advantageous: Italian and/or French preferred.

Experience

Previous experience in stock control or inventory management within a retail environment is required; experience in luxury fashion or boutique operations is strongly preferred. The role requires demonstrable experience of stock takes, returns to vendor, intercompany transfers and close liaison with central inventory teams.

Education

Secondary education (GCSEs or equivalent). Further training or certification in retail, logistics, supply chain or merchandising is advantageous.
