Bottega Veneta Merchandising Manager in Shanghai — lead buying and assortment strategy for the China market with strong team leadership and commercial accountability.
Role & Responsibilities
- Define and implement buying and merchandising strategies to drive sales growth and capitalise on market opportunities in Greater China.
- Monitor sales performance and sell-through; translate data into corrective commercial actions to achieve sales targets and margin objectives.
- Continuously manage inventory, deliveries and re-ordering to optimise stock levels and minimise markdown risk.
- Analyse stock movement and allocations to rebalance assortments across stores according to demand.
- Conduct market, competitor and consumer trend analysis and communicate key insights, risks and opportunities to GMM, senior management and HQ.
- Prepare detailed sales reports and qualitative feedback; develop and execute action plans based on sales data, store feedback and market intelligence.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of buyers and merchandisers, including succession planning and performance management.
- Partner closely with retail, marketing, visual merchandising and training teams to ensure a cohesive brand experience and effective seasonal rollouts.
- Maintain a close, proactive dialogue with HQ Retail Merchandising on assortment strategy, pricing, product needs and execution of projects.
- Support on-site retail events and undertake ad-hoc commercial tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; advanced luxury or fashion education preferred.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in buying and merchandising within international fashion or luxury brands, with proven exposure to the China market.
- Demonstrable track record of leading, developing and structuring a buying/merchandising team.
- Excellent presentation, planning and analytical capabilities; strong commercial acumen.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally overseas.
Skills
Experience
At least 10 years in merchandising and buying roles for international luxury or high-end fashion brands, with substantial experience serving the China market and leading commercial teams.
Education
Degree in a relevant subject; advanced luxury or fashion-related education preferred.
