Berluti seeks a Leather Goods Production Machinist in Ferrara. Full-time, in‑person role in luxury leather manufacturing with shift work.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Manufacture high-quality leather goods according to technical specifications and patterns, ensuring strict adherence to Berluti quality standards.
  • Perform preparation, sewing and assembly operations at the workbench, with particular care for precision and finish.
  • Operate specialised leatherworking machinery including sewing machines and edge-stitching equipment for bordatura assembly.
  • Execute colour finishing and edge brushing (colorazione e spazzolatura delle coste) to achieve required patina and surface effects.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues arising during the production process to minimise downtime and defects.
  • Maintain order, cleanliness and proper maintenance of the workstation and machinery.
  • Contribute to meeting production targets while respecting quality standards and established lead times.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years’ proven experience in leather goods production within luxury or high-end manufacturing contexts.
  • Excellent mastery of sewing techniques, bench assembly and bordatura (edge-stitch) mounting.
  • Proven ability to operate and set up specialised leatherworking machines (see skills).
  • Thorough knowledge of leather types, their properties and appropriate treatments.
  • High attention to detail, manual dexterity and a strong commitment to finish quality.
  • Effective team-working and communication skills; flexibility to adopt new techniques and processes.
