Berluti in Ferrara seeks a Footwear Artisan — on-site, full-time at Manifattura Berluti; expert in machine sewing, skiving and finishing with permanent-hire potential.
Role & Responsibilities
- Operate sewing machinery used in footwear production, including arm sewing machines, flat-bed machines and welt-stitching equipment (bordatore).
- Prepare and organise the workbench and materials to production specifications.
- Perform skiving (thinning) of leather components with precision to ensure correct assembly.
- Carry out stamping/timbratura and leather splitting (spaccapelle) operations according to process requirements.
- Execute finishing tasks and ensure components meet quality and dimensional standards.
- Maintain machinery and workspace cleanliness; report defects and participate in continuous improvement of production processes.
- Participate in on-the-job training and adapt to new techniques and production flows.
Qualifications
- Minimum three years' practical experience in footwear or leather-goods manufacturing.
- Vocational training or studies related to leather goods, shoemaking, footwear or textiles preferred.
- Proven manual dexterity, fine attention to detail and strong visual quality standards.
- Solid knowledge of machine-sewing techniques applicable to footwear.
- Flexibility in working hours and willingness to work on-site within a production team.
- Collaborative attitude and readiness to engage in structured apprenticeship and skill development.
Skills
Experience
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in footwear or leather manufacturing, with demonstrable competence in machine sewing and finishing operations.
Education
Vocational diploma or specialized training in leather goods, shoemaking, footwear manufacturing or textiles preferred.
Workplace
The successful candidate will be located in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy, with easy access to Bologna.
