Berluti seeks a Continuous Improvement Manager in Ferrara to lead production engineering, SAP master-data and Lean projects at the maison's manufacturing site.
Role & Responsibilities
- Own the definition, analysis and validation of production times for all product families (shoes, leather goods, small leather goods, belts), selecting appropriate timing methodologies (time study or MTM).
- Define and document production methods, operational standards and technical sheets (assembly worksheets, patina recipes) for internal and external processes.
- Create and maintain master data for finished and semi-finished products and raw materials, including coding, Bills of Materials and production cycles within SAP.
- Establish consumption standards and coordinate with Development and Management Control to prepare and update product cost sheets and supplier Info Records.
- Lead Lean and continuous improvement initiatives across production and logistics, including department layout design, process flow optimisation and ergonomics projects (Ergo MTM, EAWS, Ocra).
- Coordinate innovation projects and capital requests for equipment; contribute to investment budget preparation and project prioritisation.
- Organise and deliver Lean training and idea management activities; mentor process engineers and lead cross-functional improvement teams.
- Develop automation and data-reduction projects leveraging Power BI and Power Automate to streamline reporting and master-data maintenance.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or scientific discipline required; Master in Lean Six Sigma considered a strong plus.
- Minimum five years' experience leading a production engineering function (managing ~5–10 process engineers) in structured manufacturing environments; luxury goods or automotive sector preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership of Continuous Improvement programmes and change management linked to Lean methodologies.
- Proven experience with time measurement methods (time study and MTM), line balancing and labour calculation.
- Strong analytical capability with experience interfacing across Development, Production, Management Control and external suppliers.
Skills
Experience
At least 5 years as head of a production engineering or continuous improvement department in structured manufacturing settings, with proven leadership of process-engineering teams (typically 5–10 engineers) and a track record of delivering Lean projects; experience in luxury or automotive manufacturing is highly desirable.
Education
Degree in Engineering or scientific discipline; advanced training in Lean/Continuous Improvement. Master in Lean Six Sigma is a plus.
