Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage vendor partnerships and purchase order execution in collaboration with Buyers, Associate Buyers, and brand partners, ensuring accuracy of order details, shipping logistics, delivery schedules, and timely resolution of discrepancies
  • Oversee offshore Merchandise Assistants' creation and transmission of purchase orders to brand partners, overseeing communication and resolving escalated issues
  • Provide allocation direction to the Planning and Allocation team and manage allocations for high-touch designer categories
  • Communicate receipt flow changes to offshore teams and maintain purchase order records to ensure accurate views of ship windows and on-order inventory
  • Prepare Buyers for market by collaborating with Planners to deliver historical performance insights, emerging trend analysis, and customer preference data, and coordinate market appointments
  • Support Buyer in style-out sessions by coordinating logistics and preparing strategic insights for assortment presentation
  • Initiate development of strategic product assortments to drive sales and brand growth within the men's category
  • Serve as primary point of contact between brand partners, visual merchandising, site merchandising, stores, digital, marketing, and planning teams on execution feedback and questions
  • Review in-season business performance in collaboration with Assistant Planners, communicate bottoms-up insights to Buyers, and recommend in-season actions such as ATS requests on sold-out items
  • Manage markdown cadence and oversee offshore execution of price changes, returns-to-vendor, and other inventory adjustments, resolving escalated issues
  • Collaborate with offshore reporting team to generate custom buying reports, maintaining structural changes and ensuring on-time delivery according to established cadences

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years' experience as an Assistant Buyer or equivalent role, preferably in a major department store or luxury retail environment
  • Strong knowledge of retail mathematics including markup, margin planning, open-to-buy, and inventory productivity measures (WOS, turnover, GMROI)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity, multitask, and prioritize independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and openness to novel approaches and new ways of working
