Benefit Cosmetics seeks Senior Package Designer in San Francisco, California. Lead innovative packaging design and brand storytelling in this full-time hybrid role.
Role & Responsibilities
- Work independently and collaboratively with creative leaders to develop engaging packaging design solutions for all product lines
- Brainstorm creative concepts and conduct design research for project theming
- Ideate and develop entire product franchise designs
- Develop and present digital mockups and renderings to illustrate concepts
- Update design guidelines, create product style guides, and maintain Benefit DNA consistency
- Implement brand DNA through design across all product packaging, promotional sends, and merchandise
- Create mood boards, color palettes, layouts, and illustrations for packaging artwork
- Manage project timelines from concept to completion while coordinating with Legal, Copy, Marketing, and other departments
- Navigate Accolade project management software and Proof HQ internal packaging review software
- Ensure electronic files are properly prepared for output, including photo retouching, color correction, and layer separations
- Provide match prints, color targets, approvals, and clear directions to suppliers during proofing stages
- Research and monitor sustainability innovations, competitors, and global packaging trends within the beauty industry
- Maintain open communication with cross-functional teams to achieve high-quality project execution
- Attend high-level meetings to stay informed on product development and company growth strategies
- Guide and train new hires and colleagues as needed
Qualifications
- 6–8 years of related design experience, with packaging design experience highly valued
- Thorough understanding of concepting, packaging design, physical mock-ups, and print production
- Strong eye for detail and color consistency
- Advanced proficiency in industry-standard design software programs
- Proficient in project management software
- Proven experience collaborating with marketing and cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated experience with innovative eco-friendly and sustainable packaging solutions
- Proven track record working with in-house packaging engineers and understanding of primary component development
- Advanced knowledge of packaging materials, printing techniques, and finishing options
Skills
Experience
Minimum 6–8 years of professional design experience, with at least 5 years in related packaging or graphic design roles. Demonstrated expertise in concepting, packaging design execution, and print production management within the beauty or consumer goods industry.
Education
