Benefit Cosmetics seeks a Retail Account Manager in Kansas City, MO. Manage prestige beauty counters, lead teams, drive sales, and oversee operations at Sephora and Ulta.
Role & Responsibilities
- Drive retail sales and service results while managing territory budgets and account profitability
- Coach and develop retail teams to deliver outstanding customer service; ensure a positive, engaging environment for clients and staff
- Plan and execute new product launches, corporate programs, and in-store events focused on retail sales growth
- Monitor brand performance metrics including Yelp and Google ratings (target: 4.0+ average)
- Recruit, supervise, and motivate counter personnel, aestheticians, makeup artists, and freelancers; manage staff relations and performance
- Conduct monthly training visits for Sephora staff; utilize Committed, Express Committed, or Blended training modules
- Develop and execute retail sales growth strategies; strategize with Store Directors through Brand Business Reviews
- Manage gondola and permanent/promotional display updates; ensure proper merchandising, visual exposure, and product accessibility
- Build relationships with local cosmetology schools and retail partners (District Managers, Prestige Managers, General Managers)
- Oversee all budget and expenses; manage timekeeping, payroll procedures, and employee relations concerns
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock concerns to department store, Sephora, and Ulta personnel
- Ensure compliance with state sanitation and hygiene standards
- Analyze competitive positioning and adjust strategies to maintain or exceed brand performance trends
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of retail sales and service experience; beauty industry or wholesale retail experience preferred
- Proven management experience leading and coaching teams
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills across all organizational levels
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Valid driver's license and proof of current insurance with reliable transportation
- Active Cosmetology or Aesthetician license in Missouri preferred; if not currently licensed, must obtain certification within first year (company-sponsored training provided)
- Ability to pass E-Verify check
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Experience
Minimum 3 years of retail sales and service experience, with previous management experience leading and coaching teams. Beauty industry or wholesale retail background is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence stakeholders at all levels, and thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Active Cosmetology or Aesthetician license in Missouri preferred; if not currently licensed, candidate must obtain certification within the first year of employment (company-sponsored training provided).
