Benefit Cosmetics seeks an Internal Controls Manager to oversee its global internal controls and audit framework, advise the CFO and senior leadership, and drive risk mitigation and continuous improvement. The permanent, full-time role is hybrid, with onsite presence at Benefit HQ three days per week, and leads a high-performing team; the California target salary is $155,000–$185,000 annually, with eligibility for an annual bonus.
Role & Responsibilities
- Manage and continually improve the internal controls framework, aligning it with company priorities and LVMH Group requirements; coordinate the annual Internal Control Plan, including control design, policy development, SOPs, training programs, retail audits, and specific review missions.
- Lead quarterly rolling testing and the annual ERICA self-assessment campaign, ensuring quality, timeliness, and actionable outcomes.
- Frame and challenge the Major Risk Mapping, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated across business functions.
- Track implementation of internal and external audit action plans, ensuring accountability and timely resolution.
- Partner with business and functional teams to identify control gaps, strengthen processes, and support practical risk mitigation; provide internal control expertise to transformation projects, including digital initiatives, new market entries, ERP implementations, and organizational changes.
- Partner with Legal to animate and enforce the LVMH Ethics & Compliance Program, fostering organizational integrity.
- Work cross-functionally with HQ, market Finance teams, and operational departments to embed risk awareness throughout the organization.
- Build and maintain business relationships across Benefit (LLC, Canada, SAS, UK) and the broader LVMH ecosystem.
- Lead internal control reviews and audits across corporate functions and retail locations, delivering findings, recommendations, and action plans.
- Prepare the annual ERICA self-assessment of internal control in line with LVMH Group reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and executive-level readiness.
- Propose, validate, and execute the retail audit plan, including onsite audits, implementation of the retail self-audit tool, communication of results, and follow-up tracking.
- Ensure compliance with LVMH Internal Control guidelines and standards while adapting recommendations to Benefit’s business model and culture.
- Maintain the Corporate Internal Procedure Manual, incorporating current Group guidance, audit findings, and evolving business processes.
- Monitor and report internal control effectiveness to the CFO and relevant stakeholders, using clear KPIs and actionable insights.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce risk, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Support the development and rollout of policies and procedures, ensuring clarity, adoption, and business alignment.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing internal controls team, fostering a feedback-driven and accountability-focused culture.
- Develop talent through ongoing coaching, transparent performance discussions, and career growth opportunities.
- Guide team members through onboarding, on-the-job training, and integration into Benefit’s and LVMH’s organizational ecosystem.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in internal controls, auditing, or risk management, including people leadership experience.
- CPA or CIA certification preferred.
- Proven business-partnering experience, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change.
- Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks, risk management, and compliance requirements.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
