The Refrigeration Technician at La Samanna, A Belmond Hotel, Saint Martin, installs, maintains and repairs refrigeration, air-conditioning, kitchen and laundry equipment, supporting the technical department and upholding Belmond standards. The role includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, emergency response, technical reporting and coordination with external providers; on-call duties may apply.
Role & Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, as well as hotel kitchen and laundry equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot cold rooms, air-conditioning systems in guest rooms and public areas, refrigerators, freezers, refrigerated display cases, kitchen equipment including ovens and induction cooktops, and laundry equipment including washing machines, dryers and flatwork ironers.
- Diagnose faults and respond promptly to minimise service interruptions.
- Carry out regular inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Handle refrigerants in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Complete intervention reports and maintain technical records.
- Coordinate work with external service providers when required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical installations.
- Strictly observe safety, hygiene and environmental requirements.
- Remain available for emergency call-outs; on-call duties may apply.
Qualifications
- Technical qualification such as CAP, BEP, Bac Pro or BTS in refrigeration and air conditioning, or equivalent.
- Experience in hospitality or a similar environment is preferred.
- Ability to respond quickly and manage emergencies.
- Strong knowledge of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems.
- Ability to read technical plans and diagrams.
- Refrigerant-handling certification is mandatory.
- Knowledge of electrical systems.
Skills
Education
Technical qualification such as CAP, BEP, Bac Pro or BTS in refrigeration and air conditioning, or equivalent.
Workplace
The successful candidate will be located in Marigot, Collectivity of Saint Martin, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
