The Train Operations Intern supports guest experience, onboard service coordination, scheduling and logistics, process improvement, cross-departmental collaboration, administration, safety compliance and operational projects for the Eastern & Oriental Express. The temporary internship is for Malaysian students and offers hands-on experience in luxury rail travel.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assist in curating and delivering personalized services that exceed guest expectations.
- Support coordination of onboard services, including fine dining, beverage service and entertainment.
- Contribute to planning and executing train schedules, passenger movements and resource coordination.
- Identify and recommend improvements to operational processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Liaise with hospitality, culinary, maintenance and sales departments to support seamless communication and integrated service delivery.
- Provide administrative support, including preparing reports, managing documentation and assisting with data analysis.
- Learn and follow train safety rules and operational procedures, helping maintain a secure environment for guests and crew.
- Participate in special projects related to service development, route planning and other strategic initiatives in luxury train operations.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics or a related field.
- Strong academic record.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric mindset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Genuine interest in luxury travel and the railway industry.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Warm, genuine and authentic approach, with a passion for travel and discovery.
- Self-assured manner, without arrogance, and an interest in engaging with discerning guests.

- Must speak English; additional languages such as Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, French and German are beneficial.
