The Occupational Health and Safety Intern supports the implementation and continuous improvement of safety systems across Belmond hotels, including risk monitoring, inspections, incident investigations, training, audits, and documentation. The role is based in Miraflores, Peru.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SGSST) at the hotels, in line with regulations and internal standards.
  • Coordinate with managers and department heads on preventive actions and the timely management of risks.
  • Manage and ensure delivery of five-minute safety talks in operational areas, participating when required.
  • Conduct and document scheduled and unannounced safety inspections of employees and contractors, including findings, photographs, and records.
  • Support incident and accident investigations by gathering evidence, conducting root-cause analysis, preparing reports, and following up on corrective actions.
  • Prepare and update occupational health and safety documentation, including procedures, instructions, RISST, and high-risk work permits.
  • Support occupational health and safety training and communications, including materials, logistics, records, and follow-up on the plan.
  • Support personal protective equipment (EPP) management, including verification, requests, distribution, and promotion of correct use.
  • Participate in internal and external occupational health and safety audits, providing information and following up on findings.
  • Maintain the IPERC Risk Identification, Assessment, and Control Matrix and SGSST document control, verifying the implementation and effectiveness of controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Hygiene and Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, with an interest or specialization in Occupational Health and Safety (SST).
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Intermediate written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of integrated management systems.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 29783 and applicable complementary regulations.
  • Knowledge of occupational risk prevention and safety controls.
  • Organizational skills and effective time management to meet deadlines and priorities.
  • Attention to detail in recording, controlling, and tracking occupational health and safety information.
  • Analytical thinking to identify risks, interpret data, and propose improvements.
