The Bartender at Monasterio, a Belmond Hotel, Cusco prepares and serves beverages, delivers personalised guest service, manages bar supplies and inventory, and maintains the bar’s presentation and operational standards. The role also supports cash reconciliation and develops the bar offering through research into spirits and mixology trends.
Role & Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests, clients and events in accordance with the hotel’s quality, presentation and service standards.
- Provide personalised customer service by taking orders, making recommendations and sharing information about spirits, cocktails, their preparation and history.
- Handle special requests from clients and guests promptly and in line with their needs.
- Manage bar supplies by requesting, collecting, receiving and monitoring the ingredients and supplies required for daily operations.
- Organise and prepare mise en place before each shift, ensuring the bar is properly stocked and ready for service.
- Record daily updates, pending matters and incidents in the designated systems to ensure continuity between shifts.
- Monitor inventory and beverage issues at the end of each shift, maintaining close oversight of bar supplies.
- Reconcile the cash register, accurately record consumption and charge items to guests’ room accounts where applicable.
- Maintain the order, cleanliness and safety of the bar area, including cleaning bottles, closing the area and handing over keys according to established procedures.
- Research new trends in spirits and mixology to support continuous improvement of the bar offering and uphold the hotel’s quality standards.
Qualifications
- Technical qualification in Hospitality or Tourism, Communications, Bartending Studies or a related technical field.
- At least 2 years of experience in similar positions.
- Advanced English proficiency.
- User-level knowledge of Office.
- Intermediate proficiency with Micros and Fidelo, and knowledge of POS systems.
- Knowledge of inventory management, cocktail preparation and food handling.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and cordiality with customers.
- Effective communication skills and discretion in customer interactions.
- Agility and attention to detail in performing tasks.

Experience
At least 2 years in similar positions.
Education
Technical qualification in Hospitality or Tourism, Communications, Bartending Studies or a related technical field.
