The Maintenance Assistant at Miraflores Park, a Belmond Hotel, supports administrative and operational activities for preventive and corrective hotel maintenance, helping preserve facilities and ensure their safe, reliable operation. The role coordinates maintenance follow-up, records and audits, inspections, vendor work and cross-department support.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Schedule and follow up on preventive maintenance activities in guest rooms, public areas and hotel equipment according to the Maintenance Manager’s schedule.
  • Process low- and medium-complexity corrective maintenance work—including electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, locksmithing and minor installations—and refer work to the appropriate internal or external team.
  • Record documentation related to the hotel’s infrastructure, facilities and equipment, including certificates, reports and requests.
  • Control documentation required for internal and external company audits (ITSE, HACCP, EARTHCHECK, SGS and LQA).
  • Enter energy, water and gas consumption data accurately and report it promptly to the manager.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections to identify risks, leaks, faults or deterioration.
  • Support vendor supervision during quotations and, where applicable, specialised work.
  • Follow safety procedures and report unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Support other departments, including Housekeeping, Kitchen, Reception and Security, during operational incidents.
  • Escalate to the Maintenance Manager any incident affecting hotel operations.
  • Perform other duties assigned according to the needs of the department.

Qualifications

  • Technical or university-level education in Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field, with experience in hospitality, retail or service companies.
  • At least 1 year of experience in this or similar roles.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanics, electricity, industrial instrumentation and electronics.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety law, particularly prevention and high-risk work.
  • Proficiency in office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and maintenance and logistics management software (WD).
  • Intermediate technical English sufficient to understand manuals and technical terminology.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, attention to order, and ability to work in a team and under pressure.
