At Mount Nelson, the Head Mixologist leads the bar team in creating tailored guest experiences and distinctive cocktails using premium spirits, locally sourced ingredients, and unique flavours. The role oversees cocktail menu development, service standards, training, beverage procurement and costing, and bar operations.

Role & Responsibilities

• Create trend-setting and innovative beverage products and services, contribute to sales activities, and help maximize revenue.
• Lead cocktail menu changes to keep offerings fresh, innovative, and seasonally appropriate.
• Create exceptional drinks using high-quality spirits, liqueurs, fruits, vegetables, and spices.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of spirits, including their flavor profiles, history, taste, and composition.
• Partner with the Outlet Manager to ensure smooth operation of the bar and restaurant.
• Conduct training on beverage-pouring practices, cocktail mixing, bottle flairing, and upselling.
• Perform bartender duties when necessary.
• Develop comprehensive working knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and preparation.
• Ensure bartenders meet service standards and deliver high-quality service in line with company standards.
• Train bartenders and service team members to meet beverage-knowledge and service-level standards.
• Assist with beverage procurement and costing.
• Keep the assigned bar area equipped and stocked with the products and supplies needed to prepare beverages and serve guests, including beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, and produce.
• Stay current on food and beverage offerings to answer guest questions and make recommendations.

Qualifications

• Hold a responsible alcohol service certification or license, as required by jurisdiction and local regulations.
• Strong knowledge of mixology, cocktail recipes, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
• Ability to engage with guests, understand their preferences, make recommendations, and provide a positive experience.
• Attention to detail in measurements, presentation, and adherence to recipes.
