As a Waiter at Andean Explorer, a Belmond Train, the role helps shape the onboard dining experience by delivering polished food and beverage service. Responsibilities include guest care, order-taking, serving, station replenishment and maintaining clean, prepared service areas.
Role & Responsibilities
- Serve guests with courtesy and efficiency, take orders, and offer options or alternatives suited to their requests.
- Welcome, seat and farewell guests, providing attentive and courteous service throughout.
- Monitor tables and service areas, remove used or empty tableware, and replenish items promptly.
- Keep tables, service stations and service areas orderly and clean, separating clean and used equipment appropriately.
- Serve food and beverages to established standards, observing proper handling, presentation and service protocol.
- Check that dishes, beverages and canapés are in excellent condition and know their contents to guide guests appropriately.
- Coordinate with the team across assigned service areas, ensuring stations are replenished and communication remains effective during service.
- Keep the equipment needed for prompt, efficient service stocked and readily accessible.
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of service areas, including carpets, rugs, bathrooms and support spaces for subsequent services.
- Proactively address guests’ needs throughout service to deliver quality, efficient and timely service.
Qualifications
- Technical qualification in Hospitality or Tourism, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience providing exceptional customer service, handling food and beverages, and working in a fast-paced environment.
- Intermediate or advanced English, sufficient to converse with guests and explain services, ingredients and the story behind each dish.
- Knowledge of gastronomy, including dish ingredients and preparation methods; knowledge of HACCP, Food Safety and LQA standards is desirable.
- Ability to answer questions, provide recommendations and ensure a positive dining experience for guests.
- Ability to organize, plan and communicate with the kitchen and other staff.
Skills
Experience
At least 1 year providing exceptional customer service, handling food and beverages, and working in a fast-paced environment.
Education
Technical qualification in Hospitality or Tourism, or a related field.
Workplace
The successful candidate will be located in Cusco, Cusco, Peru.
