The Finance Intern supports financial administration and operations for the Eastern & Oriental Express, including data entry, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, reporting and audit preparation. The role is an internship based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, with exposure to luxury train operations.

Role & Responsibilities

• Enter financial data accurately into accounting software, including invoices, receipts and expense reports.
• Support reconciliation of financial statements, bank accounts and vendor accounts.
• Assist with processing invoices and expense claims, ensuring appropriate documentation and authorization.
• Track receivables and help respond to customer billing inquiries.
• Contribute to financial reports and analyses, including revenue reports, cost analyses and budget variance reports.
• Help collect and analyse data for budget planning and forecasting, including catering costs, amenity sourcing and maintenance for high-end components.
• Gather and organize financial documents for internal and external audits.
• Handle finance administration, including filing financial documents, managing financial correspondence and organizing financial records.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with accounting software is a plus.
• Professional demeanor and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Genuine interest in the luxury travel or railway industry is advantageous.
• Warm, genuine and authentic, with a passion for travel and discovery; self-assured without being arrogant, keen to interact with discerning guests, a strong storyteller, positive-minded and proactive.
• International exposure is an advantage.
• Must speak English; Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, French and German are beneficial.
• Hospitality industry experience is a bonus, but not essential.
