The Event Sales Manager leads commercial and operational management of the groups and events segment at Grand Hotel Timeo, a Belmond Hotel, driving sales across rooms and Food & Beverage, converting opportunities, and coordinating with hotel operations to deliver luxury service. The role is a permanent contract and includes managing negotiations, tailored event proposals, group accommodation, site inspections, operational coordination, and revenue and guest-satisfaction targets.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming event and group inquiries promptly, oversee negotiations from initial contact to close, and develop tailored proposals to maximize conversion.
  • Work with the Events Executive, SESO management, and hotel team to exceed client expectations during negotiations.
  • Develop systematic follow-up strategies for leads that do not convert immediately and monitor incoming requests.
  • Use personalized communication to showcase the hotel and destination’s distinctive offerings.
  • Organize and coordinate client site inspections, collaborating with the Special Events Sales Office (SESO) in Milan on pre- and post-visit activities.
  • Manage group accommodation details for tour series, leisure, and corporate groups, including rooming lists, room blocks, and cut-off dates.
  • Support the PST and SESO teams with on-property commercial initiatives, including MICE and Celebration familiarization trips.
  • Create tailored proposals for events excluding accommodation, highlighting upselling opportunities such as premium packages, catering, decorations, audiovisual services, team-building activities, and excursions.
  • Promote value-added services, including VIP treatments, personalized itineraries, and distinctive local experiences, to increase revenue per event.
  • Align sales and operations, ensuring logistical details, set-ups, and client requests are clearly communicated to operational teams for seamless delivery.
  • Organize pre-conference meetings and support operational teams during event execution.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Front Office Manager, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage Manager to ensure the effective delivery of groups and events.
  • Implement continuous feedback processes and exit interviews with the SESO Director, General Managers, and Operations to monitor client satisfaction and refine service standards.
  • Monitor and analyze event revenue metrics to assess the effectiveness of sales strategies.
  • Achieve established group, Food & Beverage, and banqueting revenue targets.
  • Maintain high guest-satisfaction standards and strong alignment with key stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar sales or events management role, preferably in luxury hospitality or upscale hotels.
  • Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Economics, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Italian; knowledge of a third language is a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and major hotel property-management and event-booking systems, such as Opera.
  • Strong commercial acumen and a results-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative approach and strong teamwork across multiple departments.

Experience

Compensation

The base compensation for this position ranges from EUR 40,000 to EUR 45,000 per annum.
