Within Audemars Piguet’s R&D department and Series Production team, the Movement Design Engineer drives continuous improvement of mechanical movements, analyzes production issues, develops and validates technical solutions, and coordinates changes and documentation. The role is full-time.
Role & Responsibilities
- Analyze technical issues reported by production.
- Carry out 3D studies, prepare technical drawings, and perform the required calculations and simulations.
- Conduct tests and validate selected solutions.
- Manage technical change requests and coordinate their implementation.
- Maintain and update technical documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the quality and robustness of mechanical movements.
- Support production when situations require rapid intervention.
Qualifications
- Hold an ES qualification as a watch-construction technician, a HES degree in microtechnology, or equivalent training, with solid experience in the watchmaking industry.
- Have at least 8 to 10 years of experience in movement design and experience in a production or series-production environment.
- Be proficient with design and technical data management tools, ideally Inventor and Vault, as well as technical drawing and dimensioning principles.
- Have good knowledge of mechanical calculations, simulations, and resolving technical issues related to watch movements.
- Experience with simulation tools, particularly Tell Watch, is an asset.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and rigour, with the ability to manage priorities effectively and act in situations requiring responsiveness and decision-making.
- Have excellent analytical skills, contribute ideas, and enjoy working closely with a range of stakeholders.
