Role & Responsibilities

• Act as the local HR point of contact for employees and managers across recruitment, onboarding, performance management and offboarding.
• Manage end-to-end recruitment processes including role profiling, candidate sourcing, interviewing and offer management in coordination with regional talent teams.
• Provide employee relations guidance ensuring compliance with Japanese labour law and internal HR policies; investigate and resolve workplace issues.
• Administer compensation and benefits processes in partnership with payroll and regional HR, including leave management and statutory filings.
• Maintain and optimise HRIS data and reporting (headcount, turnover, HR metrics); prepare regular management reports.
• Drive local learning, development and performance programmes; support succession planning and talent reviews.
• Support change initiatives and HR projects (policy rollouts, process improvements, employee engagement) in alignment with global HR strategy.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within retail, luxury goods or a multinational environment.
• Demonstrable knowledge of Japanese labour law and HR compliance requirements.
• Proven experience in full-cycle recruitment and employee relations.
• Strong stakeholder management skills; able to influence at all levels and work across cultural boundaries.
• Professional proficiency in both Japanese and English.

Experience

At least 5 years of hands-on HR experience with a track record in recruitment, employee relations and HR operations; experience in luxury retail or multinational consumer brands preferred.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field; advanced degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM, HRCI, HRBP certification) preferred.
