Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver end-to-end HR services for Tokyo-based employees including onboarding, offboarding, contract management and HR record maintenance.
- Advise business managers on employee relations matters, performance management, disciplinary processes and local employment law compliance.
- Coordinate recruitment activities: job descriptions, candidate sourcing, interviewing, offer negotiation and onboarding for retail and corporate roles.
- Administer payroll interfaces and liaise with payroll providers to ensure accurate, timely compensation and benefits processing.
- Maintain and configure HRIS data; produce HR metrics and management reports to inform people decisions.
- Design and support learning & development initiatives, performance review cycles and succession planning activities.
- Drive local HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives (process optimisation, policy updates, change management).
- Act as liaison between Tokyo operations and regional/global People & Culture teams to ensure alignment with group policies and employer brand standards.
Qualifications
- Proven HR experience (typically 5+ years) with responsibility for HR operations and employee relations.
- Strong working knowledge of Japanese employment law and statutory HR obligations.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll processes; hands-on with system administration and data integrity.
- Excellent stakeholder management and consultancy skills with senior managers and cross-functional teams.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality handling sensitive employee information.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline; advanced HR certification advantageous.

Experience
Minimum of 5 years of progressive human resources experience, ideally within fashion, retail or luxury goods; demonstrable exposure to Japanese labour practices and HR operations at a regional or multi-site level.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; advanced degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM, CIPD) preferred.
