The Assistant Boutique Director supports the Boutique Director in daily boutique operations, client experience, sales performance, team development, and operational excellence, and assumes responsibility for the boutique in the Director’s absence. The role is full-time and requires a minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role within fine watchmaking or high-end luxury retail.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the Boutique Director in the boutique’s day-to-day operations, delivering exceptional client service and achieving defined objectives.
  • Build and maintain the team’s expertise in Audemars Piguet’s brand fundamentals, history and heritage, watch collections and references, features, prices, and sales pitches.
  • Stay current on competitor products, industry trends, and best practices, and share relevant insights with clients and the team.
  • Lead the team in creating a welcoming client experience; monitor client feedback and Quality Visits results and propose improvements.
  • Train team members in product knowledge and client service, set performance expectations with the Boutique Director, and provide ongoing feedback and support.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, well-presented boutique, promptly addressing the condition of furniture, sales tools, crockery, and other elements.
  • Support the Boutique Director in communicating and achieving sales objectives and KPIs, ensuring the team understands them and that progress is monitored.
  • Share best practices with colleagues, monitor boutique expenses against profitability goals, track competitor activity, and identify competitive advantages and differentiation strategies.
  • Analyze boutique performance data, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead hands-on team management by providing guidance, coaching, training, feedback, and support to improve individual and team performance.
  • Ensure the team consistently delivers exceptional client service and foster an inclusive workplace that supports employee well-being, personal growth, and AP’s culture and values.
  • Work with the Boutique Director to set and communicate clear team expectations and goals; assist with performance evaluations and development feedback.
  • Identify performance or conduct issues and work with the Boutique Director on corrective action plans.
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding, ensuring new team members receive appropriate training and support.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration, and ensure adherence to AP policies and procedures, Dress Code, Grooming Guidelines, and group standards.
  • Assume the Boutique Director’s responsibilities during their absence to ensure business continuity.
  • Keep the team informed of AP processes and procedures and ensure they are understood, implemented, and followed.
  • Maintain accurate client data in the CRM, ensure secure handling and storage of client information, and comply with AP data-protection regulations.
  • Lead the timely, high-standard completion of operational tasks.
  • Ensure displays, equipment, systems, POS systems, security systems, and other operational equipment are maintained and in good working order.
  • Apply and uphold guidelines and standards that keep the boutique’s presentation consistent with AP’s brand image and aesthetic.
  • Ensure actions, transactions, and decisions comply with AP practices and legal requirements; act transparently, with integrity and respect for people and company property, and take accountability for all actions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role within fine watchmaking or high-end luxury retail.
  • Strong knowledge of watch complications, competitors, and product storytelling.
  • Proven experience using CRM and developing high-value client relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams of 10–15 people.
  • Solid background in delivering exceptional luxury client experiences and handling client complaints.
  • Fluent English required; Arabic is a plus.
  • Strong initiative, ownership, and accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and client-management skills.
  • Strong team-management and people-development capabilities.
