Aman seeks an Area Director of Security in Tokyo, Japan to oversee security operations across Japan properties, implement global protocols, and lead regional emergency response.
Role & Responsibilities
- Drive, implement, and ensure compliance with the AMAN Global Security policy and protocols across Japan properties, mitigating security threats and operational risks to assets, personnel, guests, and visitors
- Develop and maintain comprehensive operational risk assessments related to AMAN properties and development sites in Japan
- Collaborate with General Managers, local Security Directors, Engineers, Human Resources, IT, Cybersecurity, and Regional Counsel to establish and enforce property-level security standards and policies
- Conduct security audits and assessments on AMAN Japan properties and developments to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented global security and safety measures
- Follow up on documented recommendations to prioritize security enhancements within property capital expenditure budgets
- Advise and report to the Global Head of Security on emerging threats and geopolitical risks affecting AMAN interests in Japan
- Continuously improve and measure the effectiveness of security strategies, personnel, vendors, and technologies deployed across AMAN Japan properties
- Establish and maintain proactive security outreach with Japanese law enforcement, security services, fire prevention professionals, and governmental bodies to support information sharing and emergency response
- Ensure all Japan properties maintain current emergency response and evacuation plans with regularly documented and conducted exercises
- Lead decision-making and coordination for incident management, emergency response, and crisis operations in Japan, providing support to first responders
- Oversee corporate-delegated investigations and guide hotels on investigative protocols while maintaining legal compliance and ultra-luxury brand privacy standards
- Assist and coordinate the recruitment and onboarding of local Security Directors and security vendors for AMAN Japan properties
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of progressive security management experience in the hospitality industry
- 10–15 years of cumulative professional experience in safety and security roles
- Expert knowledge of CCTV, access control systems, and hotel security technologies
- Demonstrable experience in developing strategic security and loss prevention plans for Japan operations
- Strong knowledge of Japanese safety legislation and regulatory requirements
- Fluency in both English and Japanese with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Experience
10-15 years of progressive work experience in safety and security, with a minimum of 5 years as a Security Manager in the hospitality industry. Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategic security and loss prevention plans, particularly in Japan.
